April 2024 Writing Contest

 

New for 2024, we’re bringing back the Scribbler subscriber writing contest. Each month we’ll provide a short story prompt and give our box and slim subscribers a chance to write their way to fantastic prizes! Best part - as a subscriber, it’s FREE to enter.

The Prompt:

A Spring Awakening: As the first signs of spring emerge, a small town tucked away in the countryside awakens from its winter slumber. Write a story about a protagonist who returns to their hometown after many years away, only to find it transformed by the arrival of spring.

The Prize:

 

The winner will receive a standard MacOS or Windows license for Scrivener ($59 value). Scrivener is the go-to app for writers of all kinds, used every day by best-selling novelists, screenwriters, non-fiction writers, students, academics, lawyers, journalists, translators and more. Scrivener won't tell you how to write—it simply provides everything you need to start writing and keep writing.

The runner-up will receive a $25 Scribbler gift card and will also have their entry featured on the Scribbler Blog.

Formatting and Submitting Your Entry:

Submissions must be 1,000 words or less, double-spaced, and in 12 pt. Times New Roman. Your entry should be sent in .doc, .docx, or .rtf format to contests@goscribbler.com. Entries must be received by 5/15. Winners will be announced at the end of May.
